Enchanted Forest!

A couple weekends ago, I got a Flexcar and drove down to Salem, OR, to visit the Enchanted Forest theme park. I wanted to see their new interactive dark ride, The Challenge of Mondor, because it has an interesting trackless ride system from ETF in the Netherlands.

The first thing you notice when you get to the Enchanted Forest is -- it really is a forest. It is, without a doubt, the theme park with the most shade you will ever go to. This is a good thing, because the entire park is built on a hill, and all the rides are up at the top. So there will be plenty of trudging.
I was the first person through the gates that morning, and I took off toward the new ride by going to the right rather than to the left, which is backwards according to the park's layout -- you're supposed to zig-zag up through all the fairy-tale scenes on the left before you get to the rides. So not only was I the first person in, anyone who followed me would be coming around the long way. I don't know if you've ever had the experience of having an entire amusement park to yourself, but it's simultaneously great and creepy -- somewhere in the back of your mind, you keep expecting a giant Yeti to run by, chasing Shaggy and Scooby-Doo.

More soon. Meanwhile, here are some photos of the exterior of The Challenge of Mondor.
